Transforming from Christmas to Winter Decor

As the hustle and bustle of Christmas comes to a close, many of us are left with beautiful holiday decor but it can feel like it’s too much for the quiet winter months ahead. But with a few simple tweaks, you can transform your Christmas decor into a cozy winter wonderland that lasts all winter long. Here are some tips to guide you through this transformation:

1. Transform Your Colour Palette

One of the easiest ways to go from your Christmas decor to winter is to change your colour palette. Replace traditional red and green with softer hues like white, cream, icy blue and silver. Consider using fabric in these colours for throw pillows, table runners or blankets. Bringing in neutral tones can also create a calm space that goes well with winter.

2. Remove In Your Face Holiday Decor

Take down any overtly Christmas-themed decorations, such as Santa figurines, Christmas trees and wreaths decked out with ornaments. These items can feel out of place once the holiday season is over. By focusing on winter-themed accents like snowflakes, pine cones or even simple greenery, your can make your decor last all the way til spring!

3. Go for Subtle Lighting

Christmas lights are often bright and colourful, which fits the holiday just fine. But as we move on into winter, switch out these lights for soft white or warm yellow fairy lights. Drape them along mantels, in glass jars or around door frames to create a warm and inviting aura that goes great with winter nights. We have several battery-operated candles that we use all winter long to help give our home a comfy feeling!

4. Layer Textiles for Warmth

Winter decor is all about creating warmth and comfort. Layer up your textiles by adding heavier throws and plush pillows in warm textures, such as faux fur or knits. 5. Add Winter Scents

Boost the atmosphere of your home with cozy winter scents. Use candles, essential oils or diffusers with fragrances like pine, cedar, cinnamon or vanilla. These scents can evoke the essence of winter and can transform your home into a retreat.

6. Create Winter Scenes

To make the transition from Christmas to winter decor easily, create small vignettes throughout your home with winter-themed decorations. Use glass cloches filled with faux snow and evergreen branches or display white candles of varying heights atop a tray. These little details will bring a harmonious look without the holiday clutter.

Transforming your Christmas decor into winter decor is both simple and rewarding. By making a few thoughtful changes, you can maintain the tranquil ambience that celebrates the beauty of winter. Embrace the coziness of the season and enjoy your thoughtfully designed space all winter long.
